Course dates: Early
recognition and reduction of stress in ourselves and in our dive buddies
can greatly reduce the chances of a diving accident. The Stress/Rescue
program covers not only rescue work, but also techniques for detecting
and positively dealing with stress in self and others. Current CPR/First Aid Certification is a pre-requisite for this course. We offer the American Heart Association course nearly every month and it's great. These classes are also available several times a month at the Triangle Area Red Cross. Time commitment: Approximately two to three hours at home to read the text and answer the questions prior to the first classroom session; one classroom session, one classroom/pool combined session, and two days of open water training. Required Training Materials: The SSI Stress/Rescue Home Study Kit, $42.95 Required equipment: Personal snorkeling gear and scuba gear with functioning BCD auto-inflator and alternate air source, PSI/depth gauges or computer, two cylinders, exposure suit, compass, slate, personal surface marker (scuba tuba), whistle, and dive knife or shears. |
